Health utilization following Adenotonsillectomy
We are in the development stages of a collaborative effort to research the healthcare utilization of children following adenotonsillectomy. Simply put, we will look at how their need and subsequent use of the general health care system is used before and after surgery. This can be researched by tracking children who have undergone T & A either retrospectively or prospectively and looking at their healthcare utilization, such as primary care provider visits, ED visits, hospitalizations, and medication use before and after the surgery. There have been other studies that have demonstrated that children who undergo adenotonsillectomy have a much decreased need for healthcare services following their surgery.
