Pediatric Otolaryngology Symposium 2007

Our Second annual symposium was a huge success.  It took place on November 1, 2007 at the New Haven Lawn Club.  It was a CME event with over 80 clinicians in attendance.

What made this event exceptionally special is that we welcomed our first visiting professor, Scott Manning, MD.  Dr. Manning is Chief of Otolaryngology at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington.  He is the current President of  the American Pediatric Society of Otolaryngology.

We covered a wide variety of pediatric otolaryngology topics.

·         Pediatric Sinusitis – Scott Manning, MD

·         Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Children – David Karas, MD

·         Congenital Neck Masses-  Eric Baum, MD

·         Otolaryngologic Manifestations of Trisomy 21 - Alyssa Terk, MD

·         Evidence Based Practice:  Management of Otorrhea in the Pediatric Patient- Lisa Gagnon, APRN

·         Neonatal Airway Obstruction – Wendy Mackey, APRN

We would like to acknowledge and thank the following companies for their financial support through educations grants:  ArthroCare ENT, TAP Pharmaceuticals, Abbott Lab and Alcon Lab.

We are already in the process of planning our third annual Pediatric Otolaryngology Symposium, scheduled to take place in November 2008 at the New Haven Lawn Club.  We are looking suggestions for topics you would like to see covered.  Please email Wendy.mackey@yale.edu  with any topic suggestions, or other comments or idea.
